Pre-Hospital emergency Care

This is the most advanced of our First Aid courses.

Provide basic pre-hospital emergency care
Purpose: People credited with this unit standard are able to:

– assess and manage the scene of an emergency situation;
– assess patients in an emergency situation;
– demonstrate and apply knowledge of devices and/or techniques to manage patients in an emergency situation; and
– monitor patients and provide information in an emergency situation.

Demonstrate knowledge of and use an Automated External Defibrillator
Purpose: People credited with this unit standard are able to:

– demonstrate knowledge of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
– use an AED.

Move a patient in preparation for transportation
Purpose: People credited with this unit standard are able to move a patient in preparation for transportation.

Pre-requisite:

• Current First Aid certificate (NZQA unit standards 26551, 26552, 6400 or 6401,6402, 6400). Please provide evidence of this on the day of the course.
• Completed pre-course assignment
