Pharmacology and Research of Active Ingredients:
- Chromium is a necessary component of GTF, a substance known to improve glucose tolerance by potentiating the effect of insulin on carbohydrate metabolism. Glucose intolerance is one of the signs of chromium deficiency. A large-scale clinical trial involving 180 persons afflicted with diabetes mellitus type II were administered chromium, resulting in normalisation of glucose and insulin levels in all subjects. Normalising insulin activity will result in a reduction of adipose tissue and increased muscle mass. Chromium improves the glucose/insulin system in subjects with hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia and hyperlipidaemia with no detectable effects on control subjects. Chromium picolinate has been shown to improve insulin binding, insulin receptor numbers, insulin internalization, beta cell sensitivity and insulin receptor enzymes with an overall increase in insulin sensitivity.
