Deep in the moutains of the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand is where
you find our precious Pounamu by Maori and Greenstone by early settlers and Nephrite Jade by geologists.
Greenstone or Pounamu was always the most precious of things for Maori. Because of its hardness and toughness, it made the best tools,
the best weapons, as well as the most beautiful ornaments, and was regarded like diamonds and given as a taonga (gift), it is an honour to receive.
The nautral beauty of greenstone has many colour variations and classifications.
What Maori call their spiritual connectedness with Jade, has led all New Zealanders to love and respect it, and to regard it as our National stone.
Inspired by the beautiful and varity of NZ Jade, Rei Jewellery Ltd. has set out to showcase this beauty in a range of oiginal jewellery designs. Each piece captures a unique essence of New Zealand.
